This recent movie caught my attention on how much nature being part on our life system. How much it actually being part of our responsibility to reserve and to protect before it is forever lost. On the 31st august 2009 the lecturer Dr. Irene of BEACA had planned to view the movie title "Mountain Patrol" where it was an inspired from a true story which happened in one of the district in Tibet (Kekexili), occurred in the 1993 to 1996.
Living in a very harsh condition and poor quality, they still have the will to stand for their rights, even though their place only enough to provide them on their daily basis needs. There is hardly any vegetation able to grow well around the area but still mostly works in the farming activities, because of these factor people in the district involved in illegal activities such as black market selling pelts illegally. Defining on their legal system, laws are not strict since they are guns used as their weapons and jeeps carries loads more than are suppose to. Talking about infrastructure, the only words comes out in my head are "as long people can stay in it". But the great thing about them are the bonds between them, their brotherhood and how they still hold their culture and traditions eg. the daughter wearing traditional clothes and practice their traditional songs, in the era of globalization.
Antelopes
Synopsis of the movie was, a group of activist is trying to conserve their homeland's "antelopes", on of the endangered species drive to near extinction, from a gang of poachers. The syndicate activity has grown out of control at that time so the activist had to invite a journalist from the town to uncover what has actually happening and compile evidence concerning the matter so that the government would finally do something about it. And so in their journey to stop the syndicate and killing of the endangered species they have to endure numerous obstacles facing life-threatening situation. Lots of sacrifice was made along the way to accomplish the mission and still continue to make the government aware on what happened so that the reason for their action worth the sacrifice.
We should be grateful that there are still people exist, people who are aware and actually making an effort in conserving on what we have before it vanished. We should not depend entirely on the government to take action but us should initiate it by ourselves if we are aware on the conserving our nature.
The moral of the movie was actually to tell the world to stand for what we believe and to stand against what is wrong. Before this i assumed activist are only people who do useless things such as compiling complain on unimportant issues which most of the time makes other people's life difficult. After watching the movie, it actually changed my view, to support what they are doing and even inspired to do the same. It taught us the important of conserving nature's gift. that some people willing to do whatever it takes. Perseverance, Patient are Courage are important quality for a person if they were to succeed in this matter as shown by those activist.
In those time where wildlife conservation is not really a serious matter, not until today when the list of endangered, threaten and near extinction species increase drastically that one law after another have been enforce in an act to help control activities which contribute in making the situation worse.
